Fire Chief Termination
McAlester’s fire chief reportedly got a termination letter, a city hall shakeup that could ripple into local fire services. The source doesn’t say why or what happens next, so the practical impact is still unclear.
Fire Chief Administrative Leave
McAlester’s fire chief is on paid administrative leave while the city investigates, and officials haven’t said what prompted it. For now, the practical effect is a leadership shake-up at the fire department, so residents should watch for details on who’s running things and why.
Water Safety Advisory
McAlester residents are being told not to use tap water after a fire truck used as an improvised pump apparently contaminated the city water system. State DEQ is advising people to watch for updates before drinking, cooking, or otherwise using city water.
