Sidewalk connectivity gap on Coltrane
Faith Bible Church won a sidewalk exception because steep slopes would require a retaining wall — but commissioners worried about future walkability near the new Uncommon Ground development. No sidewalks exist on either side of that stretch of Coltrane today.
OnCue driveway spacing near Kelly/Covell intersection
A commissioner flagged the driveway closest to the busy Kelly and Covell intersection, where drivers will have to cross four lanes to reach the turn lane. Staff couldn't answer on the spot — and a resident asked for traffic engineers to show up with fuller analysis in future hearings.
Regional transit funding continued
The $114,654 annual contribution to the regional transit authority was pulled because the paperwork didn't match the invoice by about $30,000 — it comes back October 12.
West Downtown Walkability project funding
The railroad crossing turned out to cost more than anyone knew upfront, adding $258,435 on top of the city's share — total project cost is now just over $1 million. Sidewalk connections across the BNSF tracks should follow once it bids in November.
33rd Street Sidewalk Project
Another $110,080 in CIP reserve funds moves the 33rd Street sidewalk project forward.
Danforth Road corridor study
The council approved a $336,700 study of Danforth Road from the western city limits to Coltrane Road, plus $420,000 for two corridor safety studies.
