3 issues with medium priority
Fire Chief Administrative Leave
McAlester’s fire chief is on paid administrative leave while the city investigates, and officials haven’t said what prompted it. For now, the practical effect is a leadership shake-up at the fire department, so residents should watch for details on who’s running things and why.
City Partnership Announcement
McAlester is getting a million-dollar partnership with city involvement, according to KFOR. The details are thin so far, but the big question is how that money gets spent locally and who actually sees the benefit.
Airport Funding
The Choctaw Nation gave McAlester $250,000 for its airport project, and it's basically free money to speed up a local infrastructure upgrade. That means the airport work can move faster without hitting local taxpayers for this chunk.
